"Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep."

John 10:7

Why is Jesus the Door?

Before the victory of Christ on Calvary and His resurrection, no man could freely enter into the presence of Almighty God because of sin. Those who lived before Jesus’ time believed that He, the Messiah, would come and make a way back to God; those that lived during His time on earth as the incarnated Christ believed that He was that Door back to God as they saw scripture being fulfilled by Him before their eyes. We who came after His resurrection believe by looking back at the finished work of the cross. Jesus has opened a door no man can close. In Him the law of God is fulfilled. He became sin to redeem humanity. The law said that the payment of sin was death. This meant that we were to be separated from the presence of the Almighty God eternally. This law is still in effect today, otherwise it would not need to be paid. Those who do not receive Christ as their ransom are still in debt and will have to die (will be separated from the presence of the Almighty God). Jesus paid the price for sin so that the soul of man could once again have communion and peace with the Almighty God, restoring the relationship that was broken when Adam and Eve disobeyed. Salvation comes from the LORD. It is God who gives it. If you have not entered through this Door yet, I invite you to come in. Take a hold of eternal life, and come to know the Almighty.
