What is to have a new life in Christ?

A new life in Christ is the most amazing process any person ever experiences. It begins with God the Father reaching down and pouring his grace upon a person through his Holy Spirit in order to open their eyes and reveal their sin. Once that person receives the revelation of their sinful nature and how devoid of God's presense they are, then, their "free will" would determine their choice of life over death or viceversa. Those who choose life would, through repentance, receive Jesus as the atonement for their sin and are then received by God the Father and reunited with Him through the presence of His Spirit, the Counselor, who comes to live inside of that person. At that moment,  that person's body becomes a temple for the living God. This does not mean that God is confined to anyones body, it just explains how the blood of Jesus is like a bridge that reconnects us back to God. From then on, the presence of God flows through that person and they begin a process of regenaration and santification.

The word of God, The Bible, becomes pivotal at this point in the life of the new believer in Christ. The Word is the bread that will feed that soul to help him grow into a mature Christian. Without it their growth will be slow or nonexistant and the adversary would have the advantage over them. The word of God says; "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." (John 17:17).  The Bible will become a mirror in which the new believer will gaze and see all the areas in his life that are in need of change.

As the new believer allows God to change those areas his character will become more and more like Christ's. The Bible also becomes the weapon of defense and offence against the adversary and the instruction manual to live a Godly and victorious life for the new believer. However, if the new believer does not take the time to learn how to use this weapon and instruction manual it would be useless. It is the new believer's responsability to seek God's guidance in all of this, in constant prayer.

Nevertheless, the Lord promises in His word that he will never leave us, nor forsake us:

"Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee."      Deuteronomy 31:6

Therefore, whether we crawl, walk or run He will be there with us. The peace and the assurance of salvation that believers in Christ experience is so great that they would find no better place to be that in the presence of Almighty God. The knowledge of salvation and its meaning for eternity will not allow a new believer stop thanking God for rescuing his soul and will cause him to proclaim the love of Christ to others.

This is the reason why under this tab I will endevour to help disciple new believers on the basic truths of Christianity that they should know in order to be strong in the Lord.
